What could be better than landing the winning numbers in the Mega Millions draw? The USA run lottery is a multi state game, meaning that 12 states (so far) take part, contributing to a large prize pool, giving more people the chance of a win and doubling the fun of the lottery! Many people take part on the Mega Millions draw because there is a big chance of winning a prize, plenty of runners up prizes and the fact it is player regularly (twice a week on Tuesday and Friday) and is only $1 to enter. 12 states take part, which is California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington, these are the places that are licensed to sell official draw tickets.
The game is played by choosing six numbers in total, 5 main numbers and one special golden number which works as a bonus ball. Pick between 1-49 for the bonus ball and 1-56 or the main numbers – these can be in an order but you can’t substitute a number in that you can’t change a main ball number to a bonus ball number. You can choose the same number in the main and bonus ball numbers because they are drawn from other machines although people don’t do this very often because the same number is unlikely to come out.
When choosing numbers, consider a few things – don’t choose numbers from sequences, like 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 which is unlikely to be drawn as they are closely related. Don’t pick numbers that are multiples like, 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20 as they also have a close relationship with one another and are likely to come out at the same time. Finally don’t pick numbers that are very similar to one another like 4, 14, 24, 34, and 44. It’s not impossible that these kinds of sets will come out it’s just quite unlikely. If you play quite a few rows in your draws (and this will increase your chances of winning greatly) then this is a great way to increase your chances of winning. If you play say 5 rows, you could pick 5 rows of random numbers or 5 that are close, as many people feel that they have ‘near misses’ with a row of numbers then a row with close numbers so you cover all the grounds in a hope of hitting the big prizes in the end.
Finally don’t forget that tickets expire and if yours does you will not be able to claim the prize because it will be given to a charity – the money goes back to the state it came from and it is sent to good causes (normally educational means). Don’t forget, keep the ticket safe and in good condition (shredded paper tickets will not be accepted if the winning numbers aren’t clearly seen). Good Luck!
